This guide helps doctors monitor the health of workers exposed to inorganic lead.

Lead (CAS 7439-92-1) is a soft, metallic, blue-grey, heavy metal. You might come across lead at work as a dust or fume in a pure, oxide or salt form.

You can find lead and lead compounds in:

  • solders

  • metal alloys

  • bronzes

  • construction material

  • old paints – although, you can still find lead in paint or painted products from overseas.

It’s also used as shielding for γ- or X-ray radiation.

This guide is part of a health monitoring guide collection.
