This guide helps doctors monitor the health of workers exposed to vinyl chloride.

Vinyl chloride (CAS 75-01-4) is a colourless gas that burns easily. It does not occur naturally. You must make vinyl chloride industrially for commercial use. It’s also a product of tobacco smoke.

Examples of work using vinyl chloride include:

  • making polyvinyl chloride (PVC)

  • cleaning equipment used in producing PVC.
