How would you feel if you saw a workmate die? This is part one in a two-part series. Introduced by Dr Simon Blackwood, the ‘Linking Safety Leadership and Safety Culture in Queensland’ presentation features executives and senior managers sharing their journeys through safety leadership.

In this video, Barbara Rusinko of Bechtel Corporation talks about safety leadership and the lasting impact of seeing her workmate die.

About the presenter

Barbara Rusinko is a senior vice president of Bechtel Corporation and the senior project manager on the Queensland Curtis LNG Project. Ms Rusinko has held a variety of management, leadership and operations roles in her 30-year career at Bechtel.

Ms Rusinko is a registered professional engineer and Six Sigma champion with a M.Sc. degree in engineering from University of Alabama – Huntsville, and a B.Sc. degree in mechanical engineering from University of South Carolina and also serves on the corporate partnership council of the Society of Women Engineers.
