Safe Work Australia has published an updated information sheet and new web page about Australian and other Standards and how they interact with work health and safety (WHS) laws and approved Codes of Practice.

The material explains when conforming to an Australian or other Standard is mandatory for PCBUs under WHS laws.
Standards are published documents that are designed to provide guidance to help ensure safety, performance and reliability through the specifications of goods, services and systems.

Download the information sheet for more information on:

  • what a Standard is
  • when it is mandatory to conform to a Standard, and
  • how Standard compliance relates to the WHS laws and approved Codes of Practice.

Go to the Australian and other standards web page.
