SWA website privacy notice for the event

This notice describes how Safe Work Australia (SWA) collects and manages personal information.

Safe Work Australia runs research events to promote partnerships between the Commonwealth, states and territories, and other bodies, to foster national improvements in work, health and safety and workers’ compensation. These events help SWA achieve our purpose under the Safe Work Australia Act 2008 (Cth).

Your privacy rights

Your personal information is protected by law, including the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act) and the Australian Privacy Principles, which regulate how entities including SWA may collect, use, disclose and store personal information.

What personal information do we collect?

We collect your personal information when you book a ticket to a SWA research event. We also collect your personal information when another person books a ticket for you.

The personal information we collect is your first and last name, job title, organisation name, telephone number and email address. We also collect your dietary or accessibility information if you include it when you book your ticket.

Why do we collect your personal information?

We collect your personal information so you can register for and attend the SWA research event.

We collect your personal information from TryBooking

We use TryBooking Pty Ltd (TryBooking) to manage SWA event registration. TryBooking provides the ticket booking website and will email your booking confirmation to you.

TryBooking will give us the personal information submitted when you or another person book your event ticket. If we don’t collect this personal information, we will not be able to register you for the research event.

TryBooking generally only uses your personal information to enable ticket booking. TryBooking’s privacy policy explains how it will collect, use and store your personal information.

How do we use and disclose your personal information?

We will use your personal information to register you for the research event, send you information and updates about the event, and to facilitate your access on the day. If you agree when you book your ticket, we may also send you information about other SWA events or activities.
