1. Definitions:
- "Event" refers to the 2025 Research Summit to be held on Tuesday 9 and Wednesday 10 September 2025 at – Hyatt Hotel Canberra, 120 Commonwealth Ave, Yarralumla ACT 2600.
- "Organiser" refers to Safe Work Australia, the entity responsible for organising the Event.
- "Attendee" or "You" refers to any person who has registered for or is attending the Event.
- "Ticket" refers to a valid registration or entry pass for the Event.
2. Registration and Ticketing:
- Tickets are non-transferable.
- Your Ticket does not guarantee specific seating or access unless explicitly stated.
3. Event Changes:
- The Organiser reserves the right to change the date, time, location, program, speakers, or other aspects of the Event without prior notice.
- In the event of cancellation, the Organiser will make reasonable efforts to notify Attendees.
- The Organiser is not responsible for any expenses incurred by Attendees due to event changes or cancellation, including travel and accommodation costs.
4. Attendee Conduct:
- Attendees are expected to behave respectfully and responsibly at the Event.
- The Organiser reserves the right to remove any Attendee who engages in disruptive, offensive, or illegal behaviour.
- Attendees must comply with all instructions and regulations provided by the Organiser and venue staff.
- Attendees are responsible for their own belongings. The Organiser is not liable for any loss or damage to personal property.
5. Privacy
- The Organiser or a supplier nominated by them may collect your personal information, being your image in photographs or video, at the Event in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
- Without this information, the Organiser may not be able to record the Event and publish it in performance of its education, research and consultation functions relating to work health and safety and workers’ compensation policy and practice.
- The Organiser or a supplier nominated by them may use and disclose this information for promotional purposes of the Event and future similar Organiser events. Images and video collected may be incorporated into a photo, video gallery, short film or webinar for publishing on the Organiser’s website and the Organiser’s social media accounts (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram or YouTube).
- Images of Attendees may be disclosed to overseas recipients, through the publishing of promotional materials of the Event on the Organiser’s social media channels and website.
- Attendees consent to the collection, use and disclosure of their image and likeness in Organiser promotional materials. For information about how to withdraw consent, contact the Organiser’s Privacy Officer. Attendees acknowledge that once personal information has already been published, it will no longer be possible to withdraw consent.

6. Privacy - TryBooking
- Safe Work Australia will also collect your personal information when you book a ticket to the event through TryBooking. For more information, see Safe Work Australia’s privacy policy.
7. Photography and recording
- Attendees agree that no monetary or other compensation is payable to you for the use of your image or likeness in any materials developed by the Organiser or supplier nominated by them, arising from photo or video captured at the Event. You acknowledge and agree that you have no right, title or interest in such recordings or materials.
- Attendees may take photos and videos for personal use, but commercial recording is prohibited without prior written consent from the Organiser.
8. Liability:
- The Organiser is not liable for any injury, loss, or damage to Attendees or their property arising from attendance at the Event, except where such liability is mandated by law.
- Attendees assume all risks associated with attending the Event.
9. Indemnification:
- Attendees agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Organiser, its affiliates, and their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses arising out of their attendance at the Event.
- This indemnity includes any costs incurred by the Organiser (including legal costs on a solicitor-client basis) in defending any actions, proceedings, claims and demands or in being represented at proceedings, inquiries or inquests.
10. Force Majeure:
- The Organiser shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing its obligations under these terms due to circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, war, terrorism, riots, embargos, acts of civil or military authorities, fire, floods, accidents, strikes, or shortages of transportation, facilities, fuel, energy, or materials.
11. Ideas
- Any ideas you share or create at the event (for example during a brainstorming session or in a facilitated workshop) might be used by the Organiser. Where appropriate, we will try to give you credit if we use your ideas, but there is no requirement for us to do so.
